Meet Our Happy Pigs

 

We raise Tamworth and Tamworth/Hampshire cross pigs.  They have large pens where they roam and forage, free to root to their hearts' content.  We re-purpose old truck toppers to make shelters for the pigs.

 

They forage on plants and nuts along with garden and orchard scraps.  We also feed them a ration of corn and protein to make sure they always have plenty to eat.  Their feed does not contain antibiotics.

 

On hot days the pigs love to cool off in some nice mud.  During the hot summer months we add fresh cold water to their mud daily.

 

As they root and eat up all the plants in a section of pasture we rotate them to fresh ground.  This not only gives them fresh ground to forage on, but also prevents their waste from building up.  You might find this hard to believe, but our pigs don't stink.  They don't spend enough time in one spot building up waste to have a bad smell develop.
